Man Dedicates His Life to Adopting Senior Dogs Who Need Homes

File this one under “best stories of the year.” Steve Grieg is passionate about adopting senior dogs and farm animals. In fact, he’s adopted a whopping 10 senior dogs, along with a pig, chickens, ducks, fish, and pigeons. He documents the whole gang’s adventures on hisInstagram, which has nearly 600K followers—and deservedly so.

Grieg is an accountant in Colorado and a lifelong animal lover. He regularly checks in on shelters for older, less-adoptable dogs, because he wants to give them a great second shot at life.

First to join Grieg’s family was 12 year-old Chihuahua Eeyore, who suffered from a heart murmur. From there, he’s added nine more aging dogs to his pack! “They’re just wiser animals,” he told the Dodo. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age.”
